MS 6852 broadly comprises Federal Parliamentary Labor Party (Caucus) minutes, 1906-1998; Caucus correspondence files, including general correspondence, correspondence with Australian Labor Party branches and correspondence with the ALP National Secretariat; Caucus committee files, including minutes of meetings, correspondence, submissions and reports; conference files; and other papers (79 boxes, 14 cartons, 1 fol. box).

The Acc07.186 instalment comprises Caucus minutes (signed), 9 November, 1998-3 February, 2003 (1 box).

The Acc08.161 instalment comprises rules, agendas, minutes, correspondence, legislation briefs, photographs, Caucus committee statistics, Workchoices brief, Family Watch taskforce report, and material relating to social functions (16 boxes).

Biography/History

The Federal Parliamentary Labor Party was created by a meeting of the labour members of the first Commonwealth Parliament on 8 May, 1901. It consists of all members of the Caucus and elects an executive, chair and secretary. The decisions taken at meetings of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party guide the actions of Labor parliamentarians.
