A reprint from the Bankers' Magazine of Australasia, June 15 1898; Under Federation; What the Conference Bill means to the taxpayers of N.S.W; The Colonists' Anti-Convention Bill League, Apr.-May 1898. 4 p. (printed); Federation badge; Letter addressed to Edmund Barton from John Douglas, Thursday Island, dated 20th July 1897. John Douglas, previously had been politician and Governor of Queensland. At this time he was Government Resident at Thursday Island and also acting Special Commissioner for the proctectorate of Southern New Guinea. The letter contains his comments on the Federation Convention, and its implications. 11 p. (Ms.)
