Contains official records such as pardons, tickets of leave, transportation records, certificates of freedom, remissions of sentences, passes and other documents relating to the administration of convicts in Van Diemen's Land. The bulk of the material relates from around 1838 to 1857 . Also includes a copy of a letter, 1856 May 2, Downing St, to Governor Charles Hotham by Lord John Russell, relating to military matters, and a letterbook, 1803 Sept. 6 to 1803 Nov. 26 concerning the convict ship Coromandel.
