Martyn speaks of her family background, education and introduction to ballet and dance training in Brisbane, travels to England with family and training with the Royal Academy. She discusses her experiences dancing with Sadlers Wells and other ballet companies, her return to Melbourne, experiences teaching and dancing with the Borovansky Company and makes a comparison between Edward Borovansky and Frederick Ashton. She talks about establishing the Victorian Ballet Guild, productions, designs and politics of the Company and its eventual demise, foundation of the ballet schools, publishing a dance book, the formation of Young Dancer's Theatre; and her philosophies on teaching young people to dance and teaching ballet teachers.
