MS 5826 comprises maps and charts used by Broadbent including those used during his record attempts. The collection also includes copies of cables received in 1938 by Broadbent after his flight from Australia to London, and copies of press cuttings documenting his career (1 box, 2 folders, 1 folio).
The Acc11.149 instalment comprises pilot's logbooks, three passports, black and white photographs, a volume of "Civil Aeronautical Radio Service abbreviations", aircrew/flight crew licences, pilot's certificate and licence and a flying chart amongst other material. Log books are described as "Journey logbooks" (two), "Aircraft logbook", "Personal flying logbook" and "Pilot's log book" (three). Logbooks cover the period 1929-1958 (2 boxes).

Aviator. Jim Broadbent (born Harry Frank Gibbs) held the Australia-England solo speed record in 1938. In 1935 he lowered Kingsford Smith's record of seven days, 5 hours to six days, 21 hours, flying a 200 h.p. Percival Gull. He was lost on a flight in 1958.
