Coe, a dancer and dance teacher, speaks about his parents; his childhood in North Melbourne; early dance classes; joining the Australian Ballet as an apprentice at age 16; influence of Erik Bruhn, Peggy Van Praagh and Rudolph Nureyev; partnering Marilyn Rowe; dancing in Russia; performing with the London Festival Ballet; dancers strike in 1981; working with Graeme Murphy and the Sydney Dance Company; working for the Australian Opera; teaching at the Australian Ballet School; AIDS; the effect of ballet and dance videos upon the technique of young dancers.
