| Biography/History |
Captain Wikner is an ex-A.T.A. pilot who bought a Halifax bomber ("Waltzing Matilda") to fly him, his wife and two children to Australia in June, 1946. He took 20 passengers with him to share the costs. It was the first flight of a private aircraft between England and Australia after World War II and the first to carry flying migrants to Australia.
