Summary

Williams speaks about his paintings, sketches, images; places of inspiration in particular an old plantation near through Carlton, Vic., doing one painting or sketch per day; being in Europe for exhibitions, inspiration from the painting Vongeraad Waterfall of Strut Creek in the Sydney Gallery; working from a school book of physiography of Victoria which was very useful to track down the falls and the reason why they are falls; speaks about Darryl Lindsay, Gallery Director who ran the Gallery School; one of his teachers in particular George Bould; the artist that influenced him the most was Ian Ramsey; painting an actual subject and not from a photograph; interest in the Multi-image idea (i.e. the same object on different panels, but the metamorphosis of an object); peoples' comments about his works from 5-10 years ago; interest in painting Australian landscape, particularly after coming back from England as a student.
