Cooper, an artist, speaks of his early years in Adamston, NSW; growing up in the bushland outside Newcastle; his early introduction to drawing and painting wild birds; the inspiration he drew from important reference material such as Gould's Birds of Australia; publishing his first book in 1968; work with life long collaborator Joe Forshaw; his views on the destruction of native habitats throughout southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea and here in Australia; life within a patch of World Heritage rainforest on the tablelands behind Cairns.
