Bringing them home oral history project.

Summary

Wenberg was 8 years old when he and his siblings were removed from their mother. He and his brothers were placed in Yarra Bay Home at La Perouse, Sydney and his sisters were sent to Bidura. He was placed in a foster home at Pipers Flat for a time before the family was briefly reunited in 1942. He describes his feelings when he and his siblings were split up and sent to homes at Kinchela, Cootamundra and Bomaderry. Wenberg describes living conditions at Kinchela Boys Home. He left Kinchela in 1948 and worked for several years on a sheep station at Moree. He joined the New South Wales Department of Railways in 1954 and remained there until his retirement in 1993. He outlines his career as an engine driver, and expresses his opinion on the policy of removal.
