Aurousseau speaks of the beginnings of his career at the Australian Museum as an office boy; studying geology and chemistry; enlisting in the Army and serving in North Africa during World War I; resigning his post at the University of Western Australia and working for the Geophysical Laboratory in the U.S.; returning to Australia at the beginning of the Depression then moving on to Europe to write; London during World War II; working on the letters of F.W. Ludwig Leichhardt.
