Sir Edmund Oswald Teale, Mining Consultant to Govt. of Tanganyika Territory 1935-1940. Geologist. Gained his training in the Victoria School of Mines and at Melbourne University where he took First Class Honours in Geology and was awarded the Carolyn Ray Scholarship. He travelled extensively in Aust. and N.Z. visiting mining fields. He accepted a Colonial Office appointment in Nigeria in 1908, and did geological work in various parts of tropical Africa.
