Summary

Collection includes photographs of Charles Ulm's family and of Ulm from his time in the army during the First World War. Notable flights recorded in the collection include the first Trans-Pacific and Trans-Tasman flights, along with the first official airmail flights between Australia and England, Australia and Papua-New Guinea and Australia and New Zealand. A number of photographs show other Australian aviators who flew with Ulm, such as Charles Kingsford Smith and G.U. Allan. Many examples of early aircraft are depicted, including The Southern Cross and Ulm's own monoplane, Faith in Australia. The establishment and later closure of Australian National Airways is also reflected. Also forming part of the collection are posters from an exhibition held by the Ulm family, and a number of objects including war medals, air force wings and memorabilia.
