""From First Post to Last Post " is a hymn to the profession of arms from an old soldier, who once desired to make soldeiring a vocation. It is a brief study and description of the gradual change the army has under-gone in terms of its paradigms, from the author's First Post in the army (PMA, Kakul) to his last post in the army (50 Field Regiment). It discusses certain age-old customs of the service and traditions; traces their origin and background, highlights the changes they have under-gone and assigns reasons for change, where possible. The aim is not to prove the ascendancy of the old over the new, it is left to the reader to decide upon the efficacy of the established values and norms vis-à-vis the new trends and tendencies. The soldiers of today must make their own choice"--P. xxvii.
