Summary

A commissioned work executed by one of the greatest animal artists of the period to provide an accurate artistic record of the living form and expression of the many and rare species of animals which exist in the menagerie. The 100 plates include 59 mammals, 39 birds, 2 reptiles. A number of them are Australian including the Thylacine, Tasmanian wombat, Mycteria, Red kangaroo, Hary-nosed wombat, Satin bower-bird.
