Professor Zubrzycki talks about official developments in Australian multiculturalism; his role on the National Multicultural Advisory Council (1997); his assessment of various Prime Ministers and Ministers; the Howard government and its policies regarding multiculturalism and refugees; his attitude to the refugee policy; his appointment in 1994 to the Pontifical Academy of the Social Sciences; personal and group meetings with the Pontiff, John Paul 11, prior to and during his Papacy; the establishment in 1991 of the Australian Institute of Polish Affairs; the Institute's significance and achievements; his view of the changes in Poland since 1990; personal sense of ethnic identity; his children; hobbies, past-times and cultural tastes; his view of the future.

Jerzy (George) Zubrzycki born in Krakow, Poland, in 1920. An internationally recognized and renowned academic, Professor Zubrzycki has served in various advisory capacities to Australian governments since 1968. In 1978, he was made a Companion of the British Empire and in 1984 admitted to the Order of Australia as an Officer. He has a PhD from the Free Polish University and an Honorary Doctorate from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Posnan, Poland.
