Summary

Jim Sharman, born in 1912 speaks about his early life living in his grandmother's boarding house in Narrandera; his mother and father; the boxing career of his father; his early childhood and education; his football and cricketing career; his writing for the Sydney Telegraph; meeting his wife, their life together and their two sons, Jimmy and Glen; a trip to London to see Jimmy Sharman Jnr's production of "Jesus Christ Superstar"; his induction as a Legend of the Royal Easter Show for his service to the Royal Easter Show; working with his father in 1946; the early boxing tents and describes a typical Sharman's Boxing Tent presentation; the reasons for the demise of boxing tents; the transition of the Sharman Organisation from boxing troupes to carnival rides; the reason for the demise of the side shows.

Sharman Talks about his career as a journalist; comments on the present state of Rugby League; his days as a competitive rider, and recalls the days of the Thorpe McConville Buckjumping Show; touring the Agricultural Shows with the Jimmy Sharman Boxing Tent; the attributes he most admired about his father and talks about their relationship; his relationship with his own sons; his wife, and her influence on his life; writing a column for the Sporting Globe called "Around Australia with Jimmy Sharman"; the three attempts to write his life story; comments on how he would like to be remembered.
