Summary

MS Acc04/158 comprises scripts and draft ideas for scripts by Devereaux, "Skippy" business correspondence, five audio compact discs, film of "Do you know Ed Devereaux" variety program (Channel 10, c. 1969), theatre make-up, video of "Lay me down in lilac fields" (ABC-TV), passports, photographs and publications, two reel-to-reel tapes, one from Radio 2UE, and three records.

The Acc04/213 instalment includes two cuttings albums compiled by Devereaux that contain photographs, both publicity studio portraits and stills from films and television shows, programmes for plays, flyers for plays and press cuttings from British, Australian and South African newspapers, not always identified or dated. The red album of 183 pages covers Devereaux's career from 1946 to 1987. The green album of 36 pages contains material from 1973, 1988 to 2003 and includes obituary notices from British and Australian newspapers.

Biography/History

Actor. Ed Devereaux was born in Sydney in 1925. Devereaux was best known for his role as Matt Hammond, head ranger at Waratah National Park, in the children's television series Skippy, 1966-1968. Devereaux's long acting career included roles in They're a weird mob (1966), Barry McKenzie holds his own (1974), Money movers (1979), The dismissal (1983), and Robbery under arms (1985). Devereaux was based in England for many years and died in London on 17 December, 2003.
