Summary

Bail talks about working with "Independent monthly", in particular the stories covered, editing processes used, independent nature of the publication and its financial situation. She then discusses her move to "Rolling Stone"; gives her views on the differences between newspapers and magazines and the changing format and presentation of magazines today. Bail then describes some highlight pieces done by "Rolling Stone" such as the story by Linda Jaivin on the Hellfire Club and John Birmingham on James Ellroy. She then talks about her move, after 5 years with "Rolling Stone", to "HQ" as editor. Bail discusses the style, readership and website of the publication; future developments; views on feminism and her own publication, "DIY feminism" as well as her plans for "HQ".
