Three volume memoir entitled "Flight of the Halifax: the life story of Captain G.N. Wikner, Australian pioneer aviator" written by G.N. Wikner and compiled by Norman Mitchell. Details Wikner's life and exploits, both in Australia and England, including the 1946 flight of the Halifax, "Waltzing Matilda".

| Biography/History |
Aviator and aircraft engineer. Born Grafton, NSW. Designer of the Wicko monoplane and the first British aircraft to be powered by a car engine. During World War II he joined the Air Transport Auxiliary. In 1946 he flew a Halifax bomber to Australia, the first flight of an aircraft carrying immigrants between England and Australia.
