Comparisons of demographic characteristics, motivation for re-entry, and barriers to re-entry of part-time and full-time transfer, vocational, and general education women students 25 years old and older enrolled at a community college were examined. A questionnaire survey of 180 women was conducted. The respondents were enrolled part-time in general education, transfer, or vocational, or full-time in general, transfer, or vocational. Four hypotheses tested differences in demographic characteristics. Six research questions concerning motivation and barriers to re-entry were answered. Significant differences were found in age, income, education completed, employment, and financial aid awarded. Those differences were also significant between part-time and full-time students, as were age of children, marital status, and community education participation. Employment was the most frequent motivation for re-entry and time scheduling/role conflict the most difficult factor to overcome.
