Roslyn Betty Poignant was born in Sydney, 1927. Brought up in Maroubra, N.S.W., she studied history and anthropology at the University of Sydney. Roslyn worked with indigenous communities to write books for children and Axel was the photographer. Since Axel's death, Roslyn continued to exhibit his works. In 1995 the Royal Antrhopological Institues awarded her the Patron's Medal for her contribution to the study of anthropology and photography.
