Folkloric recording. Lyall Harfull plays dance tunes on the accordion
Harfull talks about his childhood; parents growing oats for local "Rolled Oats Mills"; leaving school at 14 to work on farm. He then talks about the instruments played by family members; playing for first dance at 11; particular dances such as Argentine schottische. Harfull then plays some tunes on his 65 year old Mezon accordion; plays Dad's waltz "Starry night for a ramble" on another accordion; provides a story to "Give yourself a pat on the back"; plays a schottische tune; talks about waltz competitions; plays a schottische tune, Lancers tunes, "Waltz of Cotillions" tune, "Woodland Whispers". He then talks about piano vamping and plays his tune for Argentine schottische (Prince of Wales) followed by "Clementine".
Harfull talks about the Case family; Step dancing; singing and recitations at dances followed by the waltz "Where the river Shannon flows" and then he discusses his brothers' manuscripts and his own dance books. He concludes by playing a Lancers tune; Wearing of the green" as a waltz; two Lancers tunes and the waltz "Dancing in Kyle."
