Herman recalls the events that occurred when the first exhibition of European contemporary paintings were bought to Australia just prior to WWII. He gives his view on what he feels constitutes a true work of art as opposed to a photographic painting & what he feels its effect should be on a viewer's emotions; on contemporary music & art in general.
