"In 2005 the NSW railways celebrates its 150th anniversary. Since the first journey on 26 September 1855, our railway system has grown from a modest 22km line between Sydney and Parramatta to a complex, state-wide network covering 11,000km. This website contains a calendar of events to commemorate the occasion and enable people to learn more about our railway heritage. A collaboration between a range of rail operators and heritage groups, the calendar was made available in The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, 4 January 2005." -- Website.
