Notes

Map of three of the Cook Islands, that is, Wanooaette [i.e. Takutea] Island, Wateeoo [i.e. Tui or Atiu] Island, Mangeea [i.e. Mangaia] Island and, much further removed, Toobouai (Tubuai) in the Society Islands in French Polynesia. These particular Cook islands were charted by James Cook on his third Pacific voyage in April 1777 while sailing for the Society Islands with livestock he carried aboard the Discovery and the Resolution. As he sailed toward Tahiti he discovered Toobouai Island on August 13, 1777 where they stayed for 6 weeks. Relief shown by hachures.
