MS Acc05.106 comprises diary extracts, 1938-1939, 1941; appointment diaries, 1950-1951, 1958-1962; files of personal and official correspondence, newspaper cuttings, articles, invitations and notes on postings to Cambodia (1966-1968), Santiago (1972-1974) and other diplomatic posts, spanning 1942 to 1974; passports 1934-1986; papers, lectures, book drafts prepared in retirement, particularly on Cambodia and Chile; and, notes and copies of documents collected for Deschamps's reminiscences and for interview with Kenton Clymer of the University of Texas, ca. 1991-2004 (25 boxes, 1 carton, 1 archives carton, 1 elephant folio, 1 medium object).
- Biography/History:

Diplomat. Noël St. Clair Deschamps joined the Department of External Affairs in 1936-1937 and spent 36 years in the diplomatic service during which time he had postings to the Soviet Union, New Caledonia, and Ireland, among other places. Deschamps also served as ambassador to Cambodia, 1962-1969, and Chile.
