Summary

MS Acc05.197 comprises general correspondence, ca. 1983-2004; correspondence relating to leaving the priesthood, ca. 1997-2001; material and correspondence relating to the ABC, ca. 1988-1993; newspaper cuttings, ca. 1980-2001; appointment diaries for 1992 and 1995; typescripts of broadcasts, ca. 1989-1990; articles for books, ca. 2001; and, brochures for conferences, ca. 1999 (6 cartons).

The Acc07.145 instalment comprises research files for a book on Canberra bushfires; handwritten notes; email correspondence; photographs; press cuttings; transcripts of evidence; transcripts of interviews; conference papers; and, press releases relating to the Victorian bushfires of 1939, Tasmanian fires of 1967, Ash Wednesday fires of 1983 and the Canberra bushfires of 2003 (4 boxes, 1 fol. box).

The Acc11.032 instalment comprises appointment diaries; cassettes of "Tension & creativity in ministry"; correspondence, including printed emails, cards and letters; drafts of presentations; and articles and conference programs (3 boxes).

The Acc11.108 instalment comprises correspondence, including handwritten and typed letters, postcards, and printed emails; conference programs; media releases relating to politics; workshop notes; and, drafts of articles (4 boxes).

Biography/History

Historian, author, religious commentator and broadcaster. Dr Paul Collins, a former Catholic priest, is the author of numerous works, including Papal power: a proposal for change in Catholicism's third millennium (1997), God's new man: the election of Benedict XVI and the legacy of John Paul II (2005), Believers: does Australian Catholicism have a future (2008), and Burn: the epic story of bushfire in Australia: with an introduction on the Black Saturday fires (2009).
