| Summary |
Folkloric recording. Includes "Songs of Frustration and Nastiness" by Bob Willis, and Pat Somers' M'Futu Ceilidh Band. Originally recorded on tape, the music was transferred to CD in 1997 by Peter Hanigan. The music consists of guitar songs, bush verse, bush ballads and Irish band music, and comes from Australians in Madang and parts of Papua in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Many of those involved continued their careers in Papua New Guinea after its independence. The Bob Willis songs are a satirical look at this period, and many are based on songs and tunes popular at the time. The M'Futu Ceilidh Band was a bush band formed by Pat Somers and others posted to Papua.
