Folkloric recording. Ken Turnbull, born 1928 in Mildura, talks about family background and education; marriage in 1952; driving buses for Ansett; driving trucks and working with refrigeration transport for 6 years; returning to buses; road conditions in his early driving days; trucking industry, particularly in the Mt Gambier area; Reg Ansett; Ansett; his wife, Joan driving buses for 14 years; the early days of coach transport; the Flxible clipper buses; Ansett's original 1947 flxible clipper, bought by Turnbull in 1964 and it's restoration; McCormick Bus Service; his current work as a heavy vehicle driving instructor. Turnbull sings a parody on 'Cruising Down the River'.

Ken Turnbull, born 1928 in Mildura, is a heavy vehicle driver who drove buses for Ansett from 1952-1972, and owned his own bus company in Mt. Gambier. He also established a small fleet of trucks, which he sold in the 1990s. He is now a heavy vehicle instructor. In 1974, he bought Ansett's original 1947 'Flxible' clipper bus, and began restoring it in 2000.
