Summary

MS Acc07.018 comprises research material, drafts and correspondence relating to Jaivin's writing projects, and some published editions of books (4 archive cartons, 1 small box).

The Acc12.072 instalment comprises papers relating to works including: A most immoral woman; The infernal optimist; Pan Jinian; Seeking Dijra; The empress lover; Dangerous obsession of golden lotus and the education of proofreader; shorter pieces including essays, lectures, radio talks; and professional and personal correspondence (13 boxes).

Biography/History

Journalist and author. Linda Jaivin worked and studied in Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China before settling in Sydney as a writer and translator. Her novels include, Eat me (1995), Rock n roll babes from outer space (1996), Miles Walker, you're dead (1999), and, Dead sexy (2000). Her 2006 novel, The infernal optimist, dealt with the issue of Australian immigration policy, and was largely set in Villawood Detention Centre. She is co-editor of, New ghosts, old dreams: Chinese rebel voices (with Geremie Barme, 1992), and the author of non-fiction titles, Confessions of an S&M virgin (1997), and, The monkey and the dragon: a true story about friendship, music, politics and life on the edge (2001).
