Two cadenzas written by Joseph Joachim for Dame Nellie Melba, possibly for use in Mozart's Il re pastore, and possibly re-written from an earlier version for Jenny Lind. Accompanied by photocopy of an autograph message - "Everything you sing you ennoble dear Nellie Melba. I said it and I think it to! [sic] Joseph Joachim Fernley June 26th 1898".

Inscription on reverse: "Königsberg, January 13th, I return to Berlin on the 16th. Dear N.M. l got your telegram just as I was leaving Berlin for Königsberg yesterday evening and I just write the Cadenzas from memory. I hope they are right and will be with you in time; a pity I cannot play them for you! Always your devoted J.J."
