Albert 'Bert' Gibson born 1928 at Collingwood, Victoria, talks about his parents; life in the Great Depression; his early musical interests; his early school days; working in the shoe industry; working in a variety of jobs; working for tramways; being involved in the union; Eureka Youth League; Youth League influencing his musical interests; joining the cast of Reedy River (1958); joining the Communist Party (1950's); becoming interested in Australian Folk Music; forming the Victorian Bush Music Club; his aim to promote Australian folk song; Joy Durst; going 'bush' to collect songs; starting folk festival at Corryong-Nariel Creek; first folk festival in Australia at Melbourne University (1960); festival run by Sydney Bush Music Club and Victorian Folk Music Club (VFMC); details of performing in Reedy River; his love for Australian songs; names folk dances; his interest in teaching dance; dancing around the Town Halls in his area; union activities at Tramways.
