| Summary |
Dance North grew out of the North Queensland Ballet and Dance Society, a community organisation providing performance outlet for local students. It became a professional company in 1985 and changed its name to Dance North. Cheryl Stock was director from 1985 - 1995 and also the company's resident choreographer during this period. Wendy Wallace took over from Stock as acting director until Graeme Watson was appointed in 1996. Jane Pirani was artistic director from 1998 until 2005. Gavin Webber took over from Pirani in 2005.
