"Mr Robert Ypes, the proprietor of the Native Arts Gallery, in Sydney, Australia, displaying a sacred Haus Tamberan [i.e. tambaran] figure and a ceremonial canoe from the Sepik district of New Guinea, in May 1966. Purchased by Dr. Harold E. Simons and Mrs. Simons of Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.A., the canoe was bought as a gift for the Museum of Art in Birmingham and the figure to add to the Simons' personal collection.
