Jack Mount, born in Murwillumbah N.S.W., talks about his family background ; his father, being a share farmer who used draft horses; his schooling; the decline of the dairy industry; his first work as a contract fencer, camping, cutting posts with an axe; ringing work on Beenboona Station, the isolation, award wages; throwing methods, bull straps, scrub horses; horse breaking on Marion Downs Station (1959), the journey out to the property; the management and staff; the horse breaking process, wild horses; Ken McGuire; horse whisperers; working on Herbert Station with Sam Hill; working around the Dawson district; his marriage and daughters; travelling to rodeos; cattle mustering; entering stock horse in the Bedourie Races; Gordon Scobie; leaving the Channel Country; the fattening properties of Channel Country, grasses and herbage; the rapid change in mustering practices; modern inoculations; working in a coal mine in N.S.W.; working in Tweed Heads.
