Cecil Thompson 'Charlie' Oliver, President of the N.S.W. Branch of the Australian Workers's Union (AWU) talks about the various English towns he grew up in; leaving school and helping with the war effort in 1914; his decision to come to Australia after WWI; his job as a miner, including the dangers of mining to his health; major figures in politics; his reasons for becoming a union organiser; his association with the Snowy Mountains project; the Communist Partys involvement with the AWU.
