The papers in MS Acc09.052 largely comprise preliminary pencil sketches by Ken Searle submitted for Lucy in the leap year by Nadia Wheatley (Omnibus Books, 1993). In addition, there are some development notes and a small number of photographs (1 fol. box).
- Biography/History:

Painter. Ken Searle was born in Sydney in 1951 and grew up around Cooks River in the south-western suburbs of the city. Searle is a self-taught artist who began exhibiting his paintings in the mid 1970s. From 1998 to 2001 he worked as a consultant at the school in the Aboriginal community of Papunya in central Australia, where the Western Desert Art Movement originated. Searle has collaborated with a number of writers in the production of books, including Nadia Wheatley, John Forbes, Diane Lucas and Mary Malbunka.
