Summary

Folkloric recording. Michael Manhire talks about his early life in England including experiences of WWII; his education and career path as a teacher; his interest in music and involvement on the folk movement; his time as a teacher in a remote area of New Guinea; his relationships with the natives. He recalls several stories of this time leading up to the Independence of Papua New Guinea on September 16, 1975.
