Political scientist, Indonesian and Asian scholar. James Austin Copland (Jamie) Mackie was an emeritus professor at the Australian National University who first worked in Indonesia as an economist under the Colombo Plan in 1956-1958. Mackie held academic appointments at the University of Melbourne, Monash Centre of Southeast Asian Studies and in the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Australian National University.
