In 1970 using a 16 mm film camera borrowed from CBN 8, Stephen Fleay filmed a nature documentary 'Journey to nature's paradise' at his father's David Fleay's West Burleigh Queensland Fauna Reserve. Editing was carried out usually while on announcing shift, during the times between commmercial breaks on one of the CBN 8 editing benches. This was the area where commercials were spliced into films. The box 'National Anthem' can be seen in the photograph; the National Anthem was played at the end of nightly transmissions--Information from acquisitions documentation.

Stephen Fleay born 1942 in Melbourne, was a freelance broadcast journalist. He was cheif news presenter at the CBN 8 and CWN Channel 6 Orange, New South Wales from 1965 until 1970. During 1971 to 1974 he was news presenter and journalist for radio 6PR in Perth, W.A. In 1974 to 1975 Fleay presented the top rating 'Newsbeat' programme on radio 3UZ in Melbourne. In 1975 to 1978 he was presenter and journalist at radio 6KY and Channel 9 TV in Perth, W.A. From the 1980s until 1999 he was a correspondant for the BBC London. Fleay retired in 2007.
