- Biography/History:
-
The Australian Conservation Foundation was established in 1964 as a semi-scientific body. It became more radical and activist in its undertakings, and over the years has been involved in a number of political issues, including the Franklin Dam, Kakadu National Park, Fraser Island and Ranger Uranium. Its aims have been to "further the code, philosophy and practice of conservation" by looking at long term conservation policies.
