- Map of the Federal Capital site at Canberra showing an area tinted red of 110 square miles extending from the Murrumbidgee River to its eastern border near the NSW town of Queanbeyan. This area encompasses the Molonglo River. The planned city site is shown extending just east of Black Mountain to the start of the Jerrambomberra Creek where it intersects with the Molonglo River just south of Ainslie. It also shows the main roads connecting Yass, Queanbeyan, and the proposed city site, as well as a proposed interconnecting railway route. Other main roads link Hall, Morumbateman [Murrumbateman], Sutton and Gundaroo. The Main Southern Railway Line is shown. To the southwest of the red-tinted area is a light brown area marked 'Water supply'. Covering 170 square miles and encompassing the Cotter River on the western side of the Murrumbidgee River, it is intended as a major catchment area for the city. Note that Barren Jack Dam [now Burrinjuck Dam] built to supply the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area had already began construction in 1907 and the reservoir had already formed along the Goodradigbee and the Murrumbidgee Rivers. Relief shown by hachures.
