Roger Cooper born 1947 in the UK talks about migrating to Australia with his parents in the late 1950s; living in migrant camps; his interest in the sea, joining the sea cadets; joining the Navy (1965); the escapades, sailors would get up to on leave; ships on which he was stationed; his experiences during the Vietnam War; the effects of war service on some sailors; his introduction to the submarine service, training and other requirements; earning his 'dolphins' (the Submariners badge); routines on board the submarine; his reasons for leaving the Navy; taking up the profession of signwriter: the Holbrook Submarine Museum, its formation and ongoing success.
