|aMany educators feel that elementary school science programs should concentrate on phenomena and concepts that are literally tangible. This document serves as the teaching manual which accompanies the Capsela modular system of manipulative and motorized models. The experiments in the manual are intended to provide a structured approach to using the Capsela system as a teaching tool. The manual contains sections on: (1) making Capsela a part of the science program; (2) using Capsela in the science curriculum; (3) lesson skill development; (4) Capsela gear capsule descriptions; (5) how to get started; (6) classroom management suggestions; (7) creating a movement-thinking learning environment; (8) creativity with a purpose; and (9) using Capsela at home. A major portion of the document contains descriptions of 25 lessons dealing with the concepts of force, work, energy, momentum, machines, electricity, fluids, Archimedes' Principle and Newton's Third Law.
