| Biography/History |
Sydney Evan Jones was a medical officer on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, 1911-1914. Jones was one of the western party who established a base on Shackleton Ice Shelf under the command of Francis Wild. Jones led a group that explored Mount Gauss and the neighbouring coastline and investigated bird life in that region. Extracts from Jones' diary were published in Mawson's 'Home of the blizzard'.
