- Summary:
-
A set of three documents written by Harry Gissing between 1914 and 1919. The first document is a brief summary, written in 1914 of his life to that point. The second document is an account of a trip Harry took to England with his parents in 1914. The third document and bulk of the work is a series of 10 diaries he kept throughout his time in the army - right up to the point of him returning to Australian in mid 1919. Also included in a number of appendices are other items of interest, ranging from his medal citation and service history to an Anzac Day speech he gave in 1937. Finally, there is a letter from Harry's father to his brother in England in 1882.
