Summary

Colour lithographic poster advertising a set of four stamps and associated products issued to acknowledge the importance and use of corrugated iron in Australia. Corrugated iron is metal crimped so as to greatly increase its strength. Invented in Britain it was imported to Australia from 1850 and was widely used to build dwellings to house colonial settlers, gold miners and other workers. Today it is still widely used for roofing, water storage, warehouses and factories. The main background image is of a country plain with two corrugated iron water tanks and a windmill in the foreground. Across the foot of the poster are images of the four stamps featuring photographic images of a water tank, a traditional country house, a shearing shed and Magney House, a contemporary home at Bingie Bingie Point, NSW, designed by architect Glenn Murcutt.
