Hamilton, a collector of Australian folklore, talks about his early interest in photography; study of architecture at Sydney University and his active membership of the University Film Group. He then discusses his work with New South Wales Film Council; membership of the Communist Party and the use of non-violent action over the occupation of the St Kilda flats. Hamilton then talks about the introduction of TV in Australia and his independent film making. He then discusses the origins of Wattle Records; release of musical drama, "Reedy River" on Diaphon label and the company's financial difficulties. Hamilton considers the lack of acceptance of folk recordings in Australia at this time and the political and trade union activity of folk singers. He then accounts for his particular interest in Australian folklore; his interest in ethology; reasons behind name "Wattle" and the impact and influence of Wattle recordings.
