"This report attempts to document coal exploration conducted by the Department of Mines Drilling Branch and supervised by the Geological Survey of Queensland during the period 1950 to 1984, including some of the more intensive programs in the South Central Bowen Basin. This report does not include details of some significant projects in the Moranbah Coal Measures, German Creek Formation and Rangal Coal Measures, and other regional exploration that was conducted during the period within the Bowen Basin. A concise index of Departmental coal exploration was reported in the Queensland Government Mining Journal in 1991." --back of case insert.
